Gourmet: Winter 2006

Lover's Red - February 18th

The theme is red - We want to incorporate red into everything. So, the food, the wine, the music, clothes ... everything. We're going to have a red night.

Menu

First

  • Parmesan-Stuffed Dates wrapped in Bacon - recipe (Jason & Michelle)
  • Spinach Salad with Pear and Avocado - recipe (substitute with red pear, if possible) (Rozzies)

Main Course

  • Lamb Chops - recipe (Marcus & Jenny)
  • Potato and Root vegetables Mash - recipe (if possible garnish with something red) (Rozzies)
  • Sauteed Swiss Chard with Roasted Pepper - recipe (Jason & Michelle)

Dessert

  • Volcano cakes with homemade vanilla ice cream - all lathered in a raspberry red sauce - recipe (Marcus & Jenny)

Drinks

  • Port - I'm thinking about picking up a port for dessert.
  • Other red wine - wines of choice.

Portions

A quick note about portion sizes. Everything should be adjusted for six people, but since we're having so much food and a lot of it is rich, we can have pretty small portion sizes.

Details

  • When: 6:30 pm
  • Cooking: It's good to do prep work before, but the main goal is to cook together, so hopefully we're starting early enough to be able to do that. Please let us know if you have questions or want to suggest things.
